KUCHING (Jan 15): The upgrading of Kampung Buntal Multipurpose Hall under the Kampung Angkat Madani programme has been successfully completed at a total cost of RM998,200.

The project, carried out by the Development Division of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), took 28 weeks to complete, from 5 June to 18 December 2025.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Minister Dato Sri Nancy Shukri said the renovation has enhanced the hall’s infrastructure and facilities.

“The hall has not only been physically upgraded but has also been revitalised into a more modern, comfortable, and conducive space for the community,” she said.

Nancy noted that the upgraded hall will serve as a community centre, hosting social, youth, and family programmes as well as community meetings.

“It will also function as a Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) during disasters or emergencies,” she added.

The minister emphasised that the project reflects the government’s commitment to comprehensive and organised rural community development.

“Despite budget constraints, KPWKM remained committed to ensuring that the facility is fully functional and capable of supporting the needs of the local community,” she said.

She also expressed her appreciation to government agencies, Kampung Buntal residents, and other stakeholders for their cooperation in completing the project on schedule.

During the handover ceremony, residents participated in interactive activities such as knowledge-sharing sessions, Rahmah Sales, cervical cancer screenings, mammogram screenings, and counselling services.

The Kampung Angkat Madani programme, introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, aims to strengthen the delivery of public services through a focused, impactful, and community-centred development approach.
