KOTA KINABALU (Dec 29): Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick presented letters of appointment to the newly appointed chairmen of Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) Sabah and Invest Sabah Berhad.
Former Sabah Minister of Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau was appointed chairman of POIC Sabah, while nominated assemblyman Datuk Roger Chin was named the new chairman of Invest Sabah Berhad.
At the same ceremony, former Sabah Customs director Datuk Jonathan Kandok was appointed deputy chairman of POIC Sabah.
The letters of appointment were presented at a simple ceremony held at the minister’s meeting room at Wisma Kewangan here today.

In his speech, Ewon, who is Sabah Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, said the appointments of the three experienced figures reflected the state government’s commitment to ensuring that Sabah’s investment, industrial and logistics sectors continue to be driven in an orderly, inclusive and high-impact manner.
He reiterated his commitment to implementing the ‘Sabah First’ agenda within the ministry, with strong emphasis on, among others, developing an investor-friendly and entrepreneur-friendly ecosystem.
“These appointments are in line with the ‘Sabah First’ approach, where the interests and benefits of the people and Sabah’s economy are always prioritised.
“I believe that with their extensive experience and expertise, POIC Sabah and Invest Sabah will continue to play strategic roles in attracting quality investments and enhancing the state’s competitiveness,” he said.
A three appointees also expressed their appreciation to the state government for the trust placed in them and pledged to carry out their duties and responsibilities with full commitment.
