ADVERTISE HERE
KUCHING (Sept 20): A team from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) First Infantry Division and Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Army Division foiled an attempt by six immigrants to enter Malaysia illegally yesterday.
A spokesperson for the First Division Infantry Public Relations Cell said the illegal immigrants were intercepted during a routine patrol at Gabma Biawak sector in Lundu.
“The illegal immigrants were intercepted on an uncharted road, located about 230 metres from the Malaysian-Indonesian border.
“Investigations revealed that the individuals were en route to work in Malaysia,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
All six of the illegal immigrants, aged between 20 and 40, were not found with any prohibited or dangerous items during an inspection.
The total estimated value of the items inspected, including cash, mobile phones, wallets, and clothing, amounted to RM4,036.
The illegal immigrants were then escorted to the border for deportation.
A police report was lodged at the Lundu police station to ensure the deportation process was conducted according to regulations.
