ADVERTISE HERE

Bomba personnel were called in to assist with transporting the victim’s body, after he died from falling from a tree.
KOTA BELUD (March 1): A 44-year-old man died after falling from a tree while hunting in a forest in Sapoda here on Saturday.
Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief, Deputy Superintendent Elge Bakuk, said five personnel were dispatched to the location, about 39km away, after receiving a call at 7.45pm.
“An earlier report stated that the victim and a friend were hunting in the forest when he fell from a tree. The friend then left the forest to seek help before a Bomba team was dispatched to the location,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
Elge said firefighters faced difficulty reaching the site as the route was impassable by vehicles.
Personnel, together with officers from the Ministry of Health and Sapoda rangers, had to trek about 3km on foot to reach the location.
The victim was found unconscious and was confirmed dead at the scene by a medical officer. His body was subsequently carried out of the forest using a stretcher.
The remains were later handed over to the police for further action, he said.
