SIBU: A man was killed while three others sustained injuries after being involved in a road accident at Kilometer 5, Jalan Salim, early this morning (Sept. 20).
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call at 2.25 am regarding a road accident.
It mobilised firefighters from Sibu Central fire station to the scene which is located nine kilometres away.
“Upon the team’s arrival at 2.44 am, they were informed that four victims were involved in a collision betwen a sedan and a trailer at the scene.
“One victim, Herbert Augustine Andoh, 44, was trapped inside the sedan,” it said.
Firefighters utilised specialised rescue equipment to extricate the trapped victim.
However, he was confirmed to have succumbed to his injuries by medical officers present at the scene.
The body of the deceased was subsequently handed over to the police for further action.
Meanwhile, two of the injured victims were transported to the hospital using the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, while the third injured victim was conveyed by a MOH ambulance for further treatment.
The team carried out safety checks to ensure the scene was completely secure before concluding the operations at 3.58 am.
