During the operation, police inspected 114 vehicles and 105 individuals, issuing 96 summonses for various offences. Thirteen motorcycles were seized, while five individuals were arrested for dangerous riding.

“The activity on the FAC road involved motorcycles that were heavily modified, riders without valid licences, and registration plates that did not comply with regulations.

“Many were also caught performing stunts such as wheelies, zig-zag riding, and other extreme manoeuvres,” the police said in a statement.

Police also warned that the presence of “mat rempit” groups on a major roads like the FAC highway poses a serious threat to public safety, turning a key route into a dangerous environment for other motorists.

They stressed that such behaviour must be curbed before it leads to serious or fatal accidents, while urging parents and guardians to monitor their children’s movements, particularly at night, to prevent involvement in illegal street activities. — DayakDaily
