Wee said healthcare institutions remain among the most critical services in the community, operating continuously regardless of weekends, public holidays or festive celebrations.

“The commitment shown by healthcare personnel ensures that residents have access to medical care whenever it is needed.

“Many of us look forward to celebrating Gawai Dayak with our families, yet there are healthcare workers who continue to report for duty to care for patients and respond to medical needs. Their willingness to place the needs of others before their own deserves our sincere gratitude and admiration,” he said.

He noted that healthcare personnel do more than treat illnesses, as they also provide comfort, reassurance and support to individuals and families during difficult times.

“Their professionalism and compassion have a direct impact on the health and well-being of the community,” he added.

Later, Wee visited Bintawa Police Station to extend festive greetings and express appreciation to police personnel for their unwavering commitment in safeguarding the community.

He said police officers play an indispensable role in maintaining peace, security and public confidence, often carrying out their responsibilities around the clock, including during festive seasons when many are spending time with their families.

“While Gawai Dayak is a time of celebration, thanksgiving and family gatherings, many police personnel continue to be on duty to ensure the safety and well-being of the public. Their commitment and sacrifices deserve our deepest appreciation and respect,” he said.

Wee added that the dedication demonstrated by police officers reflects a strong sense of duty and professionalism that contributes significantly to the harmony and stability enjoyed by the community.

He also emphasised that community appreciation is important in recognising the contributions of frontline personnel who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the city safe and orderly.

In conjunction with the festive season, the team contributed refreshments to all the frontliners as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation for their invaluable contributions.

Extending his warmest Gawai Dayak greetings to all healthcare and police personnel as well as the Dayak community, Wee said: “May this Gawai Dayak celebration bring joy, prosperity, good health and happiness to all. Let us continue to cherish the values of unity, mutual respect and togetherness that make our community stronger.” — DayakDaily
