KUCHING, June 16: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has issued a stern warning that any successful applicant of the upcoming Kuching Food Festival 2026 found engaging in unauthorised sale or transfer of allocated stalls will have their allocation revoked, forfeit their deposit, and be blacklisted from future participation in the festival.
MBKS said it has become aware of a social media advertisement offering for sale a stall that had already been allocated under the Kuching Food Festival 2026.
The Council stressed that it takes the matter seriously and reminded all successful applicants that the terms and conditions strictly prohibit any form of subletting, renting, transferring, selling, assigning, or sharing of stalls with third parties under any circumstances.
“The stall allocation is carried out through a structured application and selection process designed to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all applicants.
“Any attempt to profit from the resale or transfer of an allocated stall constitutes a direct breach of the agreed conditions,” it said in a statement today.
MBKS further reminded stall operators that they are required to operate their businesses every night throughout the festival period.
“Failure to operate for a cumulative period of three nights may result in enforcement action, including forfeiture of the stall deposit, depending on the category,” it warned.
The Council stressed that it will not tolerate any violations of the stated conditions, adding that any applicant found guilty of breaching the rules risks immediate revocation of their stall, loss of deposit, and blacklisting from future applications, including participation in subsequent editions of the festival.
Members of the public were also advised not to engage in any purchase, negotiation, or takeover of allocated stalls, noting that such transactions are unauthorised, invalid, and will not be recognised by MBKS under any circumstances.
MBKS urged all applicants and members of the public to fully comply with established procedures and respect council decisions, emphasising that the rules are in place to uphold transparency, accountability, fairness, and equal opportunities for all participants.
The Council said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and reserves the right to take appropriate enforcement action against any party found violating the terms and conditions governing stall allocations. — DayakDaily
