KUCHING, 13 Oct: The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today agreed to re-appoint Micheal Mujah Lihan as a Member of the National Assembly to continue his service for three years.

The proposal for the reappointment was tabled by Sarawak's Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embassy, and gained the support of Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai in the Sarawak DUN conference.

Uggah said that the reappointment of Micheal should be considered on the basis of his experience and service background, including when he served as Political Secretary to the Prime Minister of Sarawak before being appointed senator.

He said during his tenure as a Member of the National Assembly, Micheal has carried out entrusted responsibilities, in addition to having experience in political leadership and community development.

According to him, the appointment of Members of Parliament is also important in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Constitution.

Micheal was previously appointed for a three-year term from 11 December 2023 to 10 December 2026.

At the time of the nomination proposal, no other nominations were made for the position at that conference.

Micheal's re-appointment is expected to allow him to continue his role as the representative of Sarawak in the National Assembly. - TVS
