KUCHING: The Office of the Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Sarawak (Public Health and Housing) is committed to improving processes to monitor project execution and support those affected by housing project delays.

Deputy Minister Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee recently conducted an on-site inspection of several critically delayed housing development projects here.

Among the sites visited were Taman Landeh Heights 2 and three other housing projects. Accompanied by officials from the ministry and the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), Tiang reassured affected house purchasers that the government is dedicated to resolving these issues through collaboration with all involved parties.

“Most house purchasers of Taman Landeh Heights 2 have taken vacant possession of their homes. During the visit, Tiang emphasised the importance of understanding and exercising one’s rights as house purchasers.

“He advised those with grievances to seek assistance from the Tribunal for Housing Purchaser Claims and the Strata Management Tribunal for issues such as late possession, non-compliance with specifications, and house defects,” it said in a press statement today.

Taman Millennium in Matang, previously stalled after the developer was wound up by the High Court in 2022, has been revived by a White Knight developer.

The project is progressing and expected to be completed by the end of this year. The Ministry has been actively engaging with stakeholders to address purchasers’ concerns and will continue to monitor the project’s progress closely.

“Taman Greenwoods in Matang, now physically completed, faced several implementation challenges. The Ministry and MPP have conducted multiple inspections to ensure compliance with technical requirements. The project is expected to be delivered to owners once the developer settles the deposit payment.

“The Taman Sri Kenyalang project in Matang is critically delayed. The Ministry is currently working on intervention strategies to ensure the project’s completion and delivery to house purchasers,” it added.

For further advice, house purchasers are encouraged to consult the Tribunal for Housing Purchaser Claims and the Strata Management Tribunal.
