Miss World delegates join children and their families for a photo call at the Women and Children Hospital in Likas.
KOTA KINABALU (Feb 12): The Miss World Organisation concluded its Beauty With A Purpose Tour in Sabah 2026, praising the state’s effective governance, vibrant communities and strong culture of compassion that foster both tourism and citizen well-being.
Led by HyperLive Entertainment chief executive officer (CEO) and franchise owner Miss World Malaysia, Dr Sean Wong, and Miss World Organisation chairman and CEO, Julia Morley CBE, the delegation included Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata and Miss World Malaysia 2025 Taanusiya Chetty.
During the visit, the team witnessed how Sabah’s progress is driven by committed leadership, active community organisations, and a shared sense of responsibility among citizens.
“The mission aimed to inspire and complement existing work by government agencies, educational institutions, hospitals, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and community leaders, bringing together youth, partners, and volunteers to make positive contributions,” said Wong.
Among the activities, the delegation paid a courtesy call to Head of State Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) Musa Aman at the Sabah State Palace.
Wong highlighted the state’s flourishing tourism sector, cultural diversity, and strong community spirit, attributing these achievements to the leadership’s focus on unity, civic pride, and shared responsibility.
The delegation also joined Kota Kinabalu City Hall at the historic Atkinson Clock Tower for a tree-watering ceremony themed ‘Heritage and Environment Preservation’, graced by City Hall mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah.
“The gathering symbolised a shared belief that heritage and nature must be protected responsibly for future generations,” Wong said.
Throughout the tour, the team participated in community engagements with local NGOs and institutions.
They visited the Women and Children Hospital in Likas to spend time with children undergoing cancer treatment and their families, as well as the Sabah Autism Society.
Morley reaffirmed her support for the organisation and pledged RM300,000 to develop a new school with improved facilities, recognising the importance of collective action in advancing humanitarian causes.
The delegation also visited SK Pendidikan Khas Kota Kinabalu, where deaf and special needs students showcased their talents.
Deeply moved, Morley pledged US$5,000 to support programme expansion and educational resources, complementing government efforts to enhance opportunities for these students.
Additional visits included University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) and outreach programme to Kampung Dambai and other rural communities.
