MIRI (Sept 13): The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) of Miri and Bintulu zones held their inaugural joint Small Arms Shooting Skills Test (UKMSK) at the Batu 12 Shooting Range of the General Operations Force (GOF) in Lambir near here, recently.
Miri Maritime Zone director Capt Mohd Khairol Anuar Saad said the training, which gathered 200 personnel from both zones, involved intensive training on ‘Precision’, ‘Rapid Fire’ and ‘Falling Plate’ shootings.
“This training aims to improve the skills and efficiency of the officers in handling smaller firearms, as well as to evaluate those who have met the conditions that would earn each of the team a ‘Certificate of Competence’,” he said in the statement.
During the shooting competition, Group A of MMEA Miri came out tops, leaving Group B of MMEA Miri and Group A of MMEA Bintulu placing first and second runners-up.
Adding on, Mohd Khairol hoped that such collaboration between the two MMEA zones would become a starting point to continue other skills-training, aimed at producing skilled and knowledgeable MMEA personnel.
