TUARAN (Feb 3): A motorcyclist died after being run over by a 10-tonne lorry along Berungis–Tenghilan Road, near Tuaran Hospital, on Monday.
Tuaran district police chief Supt Noraidin Ag Maidin said the 40-year-old victim died at the scene from severe injuries in the 4pm incident.
“Based on initial investigations, the lorry driver allegedly changed direction from the right lane to the left lane to give way to an ambulance passing on the same road.
“The victim was believed to have tried to overtake but lost control and fell before being run over by the lorry,” he said in a statement.
The body was taken to the Tuaran Hospital Forensic Unit for a post mortem while the lorry driver has been detained for investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
