The motorcyclist died on the spot from serious injuries.
TAWAU (Feb 11): A collision with a lorry along Jalan Tawau/Bombalai here on Tuesday claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
Acting Tawau police chief Supt Champin Piuh said the 25-year-old victim died from serious injuries in the 3.15pm incident.
“Based on preliminary investigation, the victim was on his way to Tawau from Felda Umas when his motorcycle went out of control into the opposite lane and was struck by an oncoming lorry,” he said in a statement.
Champin said at the time of the accident, the 34-year-old lorry driver, who was not injured, was traveling from Jalan Apas towards Gudang Empat.
The body was sent to Tawau Hospital for a post-mortem, with police investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
