KUCHING, May 18: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) proudly secured yet another coveted position in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR), this time by orchestrating the largest array of ‘ulam-ulaman’ in a single event, with an impressive 108 varieties, which took center stage at the Kota Samarahan Food and Culture Festival 2024 today.
Adding to its accolades, MPKS now holds two esteemed records in the MBOR this year, following its previous triumph for organising the ‘largest gathering of Poco-Poco participants in Malaysia’, which drew 3,688 participants on Feb 3.
Deputy Speaker and Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang graced the occasion and witnessed the presentation of the prestigious certificate to MPKS.
MPKS chairman Dato Peter Minos expressed gratitude to the residents of Samarahan for their collaborative efforts which have been instrumentalk in achieving these remarkable feats.
“Since I came to Samarahan eight years ago in 2016, I must say that the people of Samarahan are the easiest to work with.
“Warm and friendly. Just tell them to come to help organise anything, they would come happily and willingly. Yes all of them, Ibans, Chinese, Bugis, Bidayuhs including the Malays,” he said in a statement.
Minos further emphasised that the positive demeanor displayed by the residents of Samarahan serves as a driving force for the Sarawak government to initiate various developmental projects within the district.
“The same spirit of civility and harmony extends to the private sector, where individuals also appreciate the cohesive community atmosphere in Samarahan.
“I like it here. Samarahan is a really nice place, made so by its people,” he added. – DayakDaily
