MPP personnel conduct a site inspection at Jalan Moyan Sagah to assess the provision of rubbish bins for the residents.

KUCHING (Jan 22): The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has dismissed a Facebook post alleging that residents of Jalan Moyan Sagah had requested rubbish bins from the council for more than a decade without response.

Its chairman Councillor Tan Kai described the claim as misleading and intended to tarnish the council’s image.

He said the allegation posted by Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen’s special assistant Sim Kiat Leng was not supported by MPP’s official records.

“Based on the council’s official records, there was no request submitted in the past years regarding the provision of rubbish bins at Jalan Moyan Sagah,” Tan said in a statement.

He added that the first and only request was received on Jan 2 this year, and the council acted promptly.

“Following this, MPP arranged a site inspection on Jan 5 involving officers from MPP, Trienekens, and the local residents,” he said.

After assessment and approval based on site suitability and operational requirements, Trienekens was instructed to provide rubbish bins to the households.

Tan also clarified that residents were not charged any scavenging service fees during this period.

He expressed regret that the issue had been politicised despite the council’s timely handling.

“The statement is misleading and appears to be made with malice to tarnish MPP’s reputation. Such actions do not serve the interests of residents or the wider community,” he said.

He reiterated that MPP remains committed to transparency, accountability, and serving the public based on facts and due process, urging all parties to act responsibly when making public statements.
