KUCHING (Sept 9): The National Slope Master Plan may be extended from this year to 2030 or 2035, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He said having a national policy on slopes is vital for overseeing slope management and engineering in the country,

“We already had the National Slope Master Plan which ended in 2023, and now we want to extend the policy, probably from up to 2030 or 2035.

“We take note of every slope and every hill in the country because this may affect property as well as lives,” he said when met by reporters at the ‘Mengenang Negarawan Tun Datuk Patinggi Temenggong Jugah Barieng’ programme at the Dayak Cultural Foundation building at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee here today.

Nanta said his ministry has identified over 1,000 landslide-prone locations throughout the country.

As such, he assured equipment has been installed in those locations to further monitor soil movement.
