TEBEDU, June 16: The Tebedu constituency is set to benefit from a range of water supply development projects aimed at improving water coverage and supply stability for residents.

According to JBALB, one connection project under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) has been approved, while four additional new projects are awaiting approval, with a combined estimated cost of RM1.252 million.

In addition, RM1 million has been provided through the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) to support efforts to improve water supply infrastructure in the area.

Meanwhile, six additional projects have been proposed through an alternative financing mechanism, with a total value of RM63,000, to address water supply needs at several identified locations.

The meeting also discussed issues related to treated water supply disruptions affecting residents of Kampung Pichin and Plaman Nyabet, as well as the measures being undertaken by the relevant agencies to resolve the problems.

Among the major projects currently being implemented is the proposed upgrading of the Serian–Kuching main water supply pipeline in the Serian Division, involving an investment of RM247.05 million.

The high-impact project is expected to enhance the capacity of the water distribution system and reduce the risk of supply disruptions for consumers in the affected areas.

Also underway is a RM3.5 million project to upgrade and replace pipelines along Jalan Baki–Riih, aimed at ensuring a more stable, efficient, and resilient water supply system.

Overall, the implementation of these projects is expected to bring significant benefits to Tebedu residents through improved access to clean water, reduced supply interruptions, and the provision of more sustainable infrastructure to meet current and future needs. — DayakDaily
