SIBU (April 6): The Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) launched Yayasan Methodist Pilley (YMP) during its 35th Anniversary Gala Dinner here on Sunday.
YMP chairman Raymond Kwang said the foundation signified a new chapter for MPI as it continues its role in shaping communities through values-based education.
He said the foundation aims to raise RM10 million over the next few years, with funds channelled towards widening tertiary education access, supporting students in key fields, and reinforcing MPI’s role as a hub for community empowerment.
“We welcome any amount of donation towards the mission of Yayasan Methodist Pilley. Your generosity will directly support the lives and futures of our youth,” he said.
Kwang said MPI’s mission had never been defined merely by its buildings or programmes, but by its commitment to inspire purpose and transform lives through education rooted in faith and service.
“With Yayasan Methodist Pilley, we are making an intentional commitment to long-term sustainability,” he said, noting that resources must be secured and partnerships strengthened to ensure future generations continue benefiting from opportunities MPI provides.
He emphasised that no child, youth, or aspiring learner should be left behind due to financial hardship or personal circumstances.
He also highlighted rising demand for well-trained professionals in critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and social services, adding that the link between community needs and the supply of skilled manpower had never been more important.
“Our role is not only to educate, but to prepare individuals who are competent, compassionate, and ready to serve,” he said.
“Education must align with real societal needs and YMP will help strengthen that alignment.”
