KANOWIT (April 6): The Ngemah Hilir Community Leaders Association has been officially formed to strengthen unity and better represent local voices.
A meeting to select the pro tem committee for the association took place at Nanga Ngungun multipurpose hall here on Sunday.
Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana congratulated all penghulus and longhouse chiefs for working together to form the association, calling it an important step to unite local leaders.
“This association is a strong platform to bring all community leaders and village chiefs together.
“When we are united, the people’s voice becomes more organised, stronger, and more effective,” he said in a speech during the meeting.
He said every issue from villages and longhouses should be presented clearly and collectively so that action can be taken more efficiently.
On development, Anyi said that all longhouse village security and development committees in Ngemah Hilir have been given rural transformation projects.
“Some projects are already completed, some are still in progress, and others have been approved and will be implemented soon,” he said.
The pro tem committee members selected during the meeting are chairman Kulleh Jabu, deputy chairperson Saini Ngitar, secretary Juro Edward, deputy secretary Merebai Sa, and treasurer Linggi Sawing.
