KUCHING: The Sessions Court has handed down another sentence of 10 years in prison and 10 lashes of the cane to Alladin Lanim, who is among the world’s 10 most wanted paedophiles, on today (Jan 22).

The 43-year-old former oil palm plantation supervisor pleaded guilty before Judge Musli Abdul Hamid to a charge under Section 7 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

If convicted, he can be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison and at least five lashes of the cane.

According to the amended charge, Alladin was charged with the use of a nine-year-old child in the preparation and production of pornographic videos using a smartphone at a workers’ quarters in a palm oil plantation around 10.45am on Sept 7, 2019.

Judge Musli ordered that Alladin serve this sentence concurrently with other prison sentences he is currently serving.

According to the facts of the case, while in the living room of the quarters, Alladin had prepared the child victim to produce child pornography while being observed by another 13-year-old child.

He had recorded photos and videos of these actions using his Vivo smartphone.

Deputy public prosecutor Norshafatihah Nor Azmi prosecuted the case, with the investigation conducted by Sgt Rahim Landarian.

Meanwhile, Alladin was represented by counsel Chai Yuen Hui from the National Aid Legal Foundation.

This sentencing follows Alladin’s previous conviction two weeks ago, on Jan 12, where he received a 40-year prison term and 21 lashes of the cane for three counts of producing pornographic materials involving a 13-year-old boy in an oil palm plantation in Lundu five years ago.

It was reported that Alladin had been sexually abusing 12 child victims – five are from Sarawak and seven are from the Peninsular.

A total of 7,371 photos and 2,541 pornographic videos were created by Alladin involving these victims.

Alladin’s arrest in August 2020 resulted from the collaborative efforts of Australian authorities, including specialist investigators from the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Queensland Police, and the Australian Transaction Analysis and Reporting Centre.

The evidence gathered was forwarded to the Royal Malaysian Police, United States Homeland Security, and AFP officers in KL for further action.

Further charges are anticipated against Alladin as part of ongoing efforts to bring justice to other child victims.

The recent sentence is a part of the existing charges, bringing the total for the four charges to 50 years in prison and 31 lashes, as ruled by three separate Sessions Courts.
