KUCHING (Sept 25): Sarawakian swimmer Rusdianto Rusmadi broke a second meet record at the 2024 Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma) with his 200m individual medley SM7/SM8 win today.
Rusdianto won his third gold medal with a time of 2:49.02 at the Padelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, far outpacing the 3:43.64 of teammate Galang Jabai, who had to settle for silver.
The bronze medal went to Muhammad Syafiq Azman from Kedah who clocked 3:45.23.
“I never see myself as sprinter in swimming because I have always liked long distance swimming,” Rusdianto told reporters.
He said after Para Sukma he will be focussing on the Para Sea Games.
Competing under the S8 classification, Rusdianto set his first meet record of 1:18.68 for the 100m backstroke S7/S8 yesterday.
On Monday, he also won a gold medal for the 4x100m freestyle relay 34 points and a silver for the 400m freestyle S8/S9.
Born on June 17, 1993, the 31-year-old athlete is from Miri.
