KUCHING (Jan 12): Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC) celebrated a significant milestone as it marked its 10th anniversary.
In his address at the 10th Anniversary Celebration Dinner at a local hotel on Saturday, PASC president Pemanca Tan Kun Gee said the past 10 years represented a period filled with dedication, sacrifice and countless memorable moments that shaped the club’s identity.
Founded with a vision to develop young talents, promote aquatic sports and instil values such as discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship, PASC began its journey amid challenges common to grassroots sports organisations.
Limited resources, financial constraints and a lack of facilities tested the resolve of its founding members but the club endured through the collective commitment of its committee, coaches, parents and supporters.
“Because of this unwavering belief, Power Aquatics did not merely survive, it grew stronger,” said Tan.
Tan, who recently also became Amateur Swimming Association of Sarawak president, paid tribute to past and present committee members, particularly those who have served the club since its establishment in 2016.
The club offered special recognition to club founder and advisor Voon Yong Hui and long-serving contributors Irene, Alice, Anthea, Julie, Bie, Ivy and Tan himself for their voluntary service which it said served as the backbone of the club’s development.
Tan also paid tribute to the coaching and technical team while expressing gratitude to parents and guardians for being instrumental to the club’s progress.
The club prides itself as a swimming-focused club initially but has since expanded into the broader aquatic community. Today, it boasts around 100 swimmers and 40 water polo players actively representing the club at various levels.
PASC continues to reward its athletes in recognition of excellence and dedication through annual incentives. A sum of RM55,000 was awarded to 61 swimmers and water polo players in 2025 for outstanding performances.
Looking ahead, Tan is confident that PASC would continue to scale greater heights in the years to come.
Gracing the dinner was club patron and Deputy Sarawak Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian. Also present was Sarawak Sports Corporation acting CEO Khairul Nizam Morshidi.
