KUCHING: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) has strongly refuted claims circulating on social media alleging that the party had labelled members of the Dayak community who did not vote for it as “traitors”.
Its information chief Sigie Badang described the allegation as baseless and malicious, saying it was clearly intended to mislead the public and tarnish the party’s image, particularly among the Dayak community.
“As PBDS information chief, I wish to emphasise that the party has always upheld the principles of mature, courteous, and ethical politics.
“PBDS has never, and will never, use derogatory or divisive language to gain political support,” he said in a statement.
He stressed that the party believes genuine public support must be built on trust, confidence and political awareness, rather than through coercion, intimidation or labelling.
“Genuine support stems from trust, confidence, and the political awareness of the people themselves,” he said.
Sigie also said it is not wrong for members of the Dayak community to support any struggle that champions their rights and future.
“However, political choice is an individual right that must be respected without pressure from any party.
“In this regard, I call on all parties to act responsibly in disseminating information and to stop the spread of fake news that could undermine unity and harmony in Sarawak,” he said.
He reiterated that PBDS remains committed to providing accurate information, strengthening political awareness among the people, and consistently defending the rights of the Dayak community with integrity.
