MIRI (Feb 22): Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) will launch the PBDS Jelajah Sarawak 2026 Programme from April 18 to 24 as part of efforts to reassert its role as the political voice of the Dayak community in the state.

The week-long programme will feature a convoy travelling from Lundu to Lawas, reflecting the party’s commitment to strengthening unity and political awareness among Dayak communities throughout Sarawak.

The flag-off ceremony is scheduled to take place at the grounds of the SDNU Building in Lundu.

The delegation will then proceed along the Pan Borneo Highway, making stops at various party branches to engage with members and local communities.

The large-scale initiative is expected to draw approximately 1,000 PBDS members and leaders from the central, branch and grassroots levels.

A total of 12 four-wheel-drive and sport utility vehicles will participate in the official convoy during the seven-day tour.

Organising chairman Petrus Simon Awan said the tour carries the theme ‘Kitai Ngaduka Kitai’, highlighting the spirit of togetherness and collective responsibility in shaping the future of the Dayak community.

“The programme aims to strengthen ties among Dayak communities across party branches, raise awareness on the importance of unity within Sarawak’s multicultural society, and provide clear explanations on PBDS’ struggle and direction in advocating for the rights and interests of the Dayak community through democratic means,” he said in a statement.

“This tour is not merely symboli; it serves as a grassroots platform to listen to the people, understand local issues and strengthen the party machinery at all levels,” he added.

PBDS also stressed that efforts to defend the rights of the Dayak community must be carried out through democratic approaches, unity and the support of the majority.

The tour is viewed as part of a broader strategy to expand outreach to the younger generation while ensuring that the voices of rural communities continue to receive due attention in the state’s development agenda.

Throughout the programme, dialogue sessions, community meetings and discussions on development issues will be held at key stopover locations along the convoy route.

In line with the spirit of ‘Kitai Ngaduka Kitai’, PBDS has called on its members, supporters and the Dayak community along the tour route to actively participate in the programme to strengthen unity and amplify the voice of the people of Sarawak amid an increasingly challenging political landscape.
