KOTA KINABALU (Sept 7): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to attend several events in Sabah, including the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) meeting.

According to Sabah Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) information chief Razeef Rakimin, the Malaysia Agreement meeting will take place on Sept 12.

“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar will also be in Sabah for the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16,” Razeef told a press conference here on Saturday.

On Oct 19, the PKR president will visit Tawau for the party’s East Coast Zone Himpunan Perdana Rakyat, said Razeef, adding that the event is aimed at maintaining the party’s momentum and demonstrating the government’s ongoing engagement with the people here.

While in Tawau, Anwar is also expected to visit the Bukit Tundung gold mine to assess the state’s mineral resources, he said.

Razeef also disclosed that Sabah PKR will be hosting the Keadilan Borneo Roundtable Discussion on Sept 15 where Keadilan Sabah and Sarawak will sit together to discuss the MA63 issue,

The MA63 issue, he said, is a struggle of Keadilan and is enshrined in the party’s constitution under Clause 5.8 since its inception.

According to Razeef, the Angkatan Muda Keadilan Borneo Zone Convention has also been scheduled for September 21, 2024.

“All leadership from Angkatan Muda Keadilan Sarawak will also be present, along with the Central Angkatan Muda Keadilan leadership, including Adam Adli and Kamil Munim, who are the movement’s chief and deputy chief respectively,” he said.

When asked about what would be discussed during the MA63 meeting on Sept 12, Razeef said that it would be on matters that are pending following the meeting in Sarawak previously.

Razeef also reiterated Sabah PKR’s stand on the proposal of Sabah STAR President Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan on using the GRS’ logo in the coming state election.

“For us, GRS’ decision to use their logo has nothing to do with PKR. The statement about not allowing parties other than state parties to contest is also not their decision. We believe that the statements by Tan Sri Pandikar and Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey do not represent GRS, and we thank the chairman of GRS, Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, for stating that GRS will continue to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan.

“We would also like to correct some news portals that reported Pakatan Harapan Sabah is considering using the GRS logo. Here, we would like to clarify Datuk Christina Liew’s statement that we will only use the PKR or Pakatan Harapan logo, just like in the last State election, even though some partners used the Warisan logo. And we respect GRS’ decision to use their own logo,” he said.
