KOTA KINABALU (Nov 30): Perikatan Nasional candidate Datuk Dr Aliakbar Gulasan has pledged to resolve basic necessary issues affecting the Karambunai community after securing the state seat in the 17th Sabah’s State Election.
The Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) Sabah chief, who received a total of 7,054 votes with a majority of 365 votes in a 11-corner fight, said he will also bring good political culture.
“We will bring a good political culture that is moral and valuable, and to try to resolve issues through political solutions, especially basic amenities among the lower classes, middle class and high-profile people,” he said after Election Commission returning officer Ts. Anidah Hartini Ag Said announced the results at the Maksak hall, here early Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, Parti Warisan incumbent Azhar Matussin, who retained his Darau seat with a slim majority of 63 votes in a six-corner fight, was thankful to have won the seat for the second time.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Darau voters for choosing me for the second time. Although it was a slim majority, it was a tough competition from all candidates,” he said when met after the announcement of the election results for the Darau seat.
Azhar, who received a total of 8,360 votes, narrowly defeated Gabungan Rakyat Sabah candidate Datuk Razali Razi @ Bob, who received 8,297 votes.
