KOTA KINABALU (Feb 12): A dismembered body, believed to be that of a woman, was discovered at a rubbish dump in Taman Indah Permai in Sepanggar here, Thursday morning.

The body was reportedly found by a garbage truck worker while collecting trash in the area around 7am. The incident quickly circulated on social media before being reported to the police.

A K9 unit was brought in to help locate other missing body parts following the discovery of two human limbs at a rubbish dump in Taman Indah Permai, Sepanggar.

Acting Kota Kinabalu district police chief Supt Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman confirmed the incident and said police are still investigating, including searching for other body parts.

According to the police report, a garbage truck worker found a human leg and hand at the dump site before contacting the authorities.

Police and forensic teams scoured the area, including another nearby dump, and searched through garbage already loaded into the truck for the possibility that other body parts — namely a hand, leg, torso and head — had been discarded elsewhere or placed in the lorry.

However, as of 11am, the search carried out by the police with the help of garbage truck workers did not uncover any additional remains.
