Police, organisers hail accident-free LTdL 2024

BINTULU (Oct 8): No accident was recorded involving Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2024 crew or cyclists due to other vehicles throughout the eight stages.

This was announced by Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

The course involving eight challenging stages, which started from Pulau Langkawi in Kedah to the final stage in Bintulu, Sarawak, ended safely.

“The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), specifically the JSPT, played a crucial role in ensuring the flawless execution of the event in terms of safety to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the race route.

“JSPT was responsible for traffic control and implementing phased road closures in the affected areas,” he told the media on the final day of the LTdL 2024 at Lasar Kenyalang here yesterday.

A total of 300 officers and personnel were assigned to manage safety and traffic flow throughout the various stages of the event in Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak.

JSPT personnel in the race team, consisting of pilot riders and command vehicles, set out to ensure the safety of cyclists along the route.

“While the technical team played a role in controlling safety at the start and finish points of the race and overseeing the doping process,” he said.

He hailed the patience and cooperation of the community across the country, from Pulau Langkawi to Bintulu for their “excellent” compliance with all instructions.

“Thank you to the organisers, Petronas, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), and other agencies, volunteers, technical crew, and the community for their adherence to road closures and safety instructions, which is greatly appreciated,” Yusri added.
