Police suspect wild animal attack in Telaga Air body discovery

KUCHING: The body found at Kampung Selang Laut, Telaga Air near here on Jan 1 is believed to be the result of a wild animal attack.

According to Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata, the victim’s body exhibited severe bite marks, particularly on the right hand.

“I believe the bite marks may have been inflicted by wild animals in the area. We are still awaiting the autopsy results,” he stated during a press conference at the Sarawak police contingent headquarters on Friday (Jan 5).

Comm Mancha further explained that preliminary findings suggest no criminal elements related to the deceased’s body.

The body was discovered at 9.30pm on Jan 1 at Kampung Selang Laut, Telaga Air.

In a separate event, Comm Mancha attended the handover of duties for four Officer in Charge of Police District (OCPD) positions at the Senior Police Officer’s Mess.

The transitions were as follows: Sarikei police chief, from Supt Awang Arfian Awang Bujang to DSP Benedict Faris Jimoy; Kanowit police chief, from DSP Tega Bilong to DSP Dennis Bunyam; Lawas police chief, from DSP Sila Kadong to DSP Liong Kindan; and Simunjan police chief, from DSP Wong Tee Kue to DSP Rafhan Kepli.
