SIBU, Dec 20: Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini owners are among 2,685 luxury vehicle owners nationwide who failed to renew their road tax over the past year, the Malaysia Road Transport Department (JPJ) revealed as it continues its nationwide Ops Luxury enforcement.

In a TVS news, JPJ senior enforcement director Dato Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said the lapse constitutes an offence under the Road Transport Act 1987 and warned that enforcement would be carried out without compromise.

“JPJ will take strict action including fines, vehicle seizures, and further legal proceedings against any vehicle operating without valid road tax,” he said during a briefing at a bus terminal after the launch of JPJ Sarawak’s Special Christmas Operation on Friday (Dec 19).

He added that vehicles without valid road tax also risk having no insurance coverage, exposing both owners and the public to significant financial liability in the event of accidents.

Ops Luxury data shows Porsche topping the list with 1,887 vehicles failing to renew their road tax, followed by Ferrari (223), Lamborghini (195), Bentley (172), Maserati (88), Rolls-Royce (64), and Aston Martin (56).

In a positive development, Muhammad Kifli said 12,921 luxury vehicles have renewed their road tax since Ops Luxury was announced, generating RM34.47 million in revenue. Porsche again led compliance with 10,142 renewals, contributing RM17.94 million.

Since July 2025, JPJ has seized 855 luxury vehicles under the operation.

JPJ urged all vehicle owners, particularly those with high-end cars, to take responsibility and renew their road tax promptly via the MySikap portal or the MyJPJ app.

“Continuous enforcement and monitoring will remain our priority to ensure road safety and full compliance,” Muhammad Kifli stressed.
