KOTA SAMARAHAN, Sept 25: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is confident that negotiations related to the supervision of oil and gas trade between Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) will end in October.

“If there are a few issues we can extend the (negotiation) period, but our target is this October.

“It is up to the technical committee, and I think it will be completed in a month or two, just like the takeover of Affin Bank,” he said when met at the opening ceremony of the new Sarawak Farmers’ Organisation (PPNS) building in Kota Samarahan here today.

The Sarawak government, PETRONAS and Petros in a joint statement yesterday (Sept 24) disclosed that discussions regarding gas distribution in Sarawak are currently ongoing between the parties and will be concluded soon.

“It is confirmed that no legal action is being contemplated by PETRONAS against Sarawak and Petros.

“All parties respect and abide by Federal and State laws regarding this matter,” the statement said. — DayakDaily
