KUCHING (Jan 12): The installation of Lucky Cat statues at key locations is reinforcing Kuching’s unique global identity as ‘Cat City’, aligning with its cultural heritage and tourism brand.
In a statement yesterday, the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) expressed sincere appreciation to Borneo Restu Sdn Bhd for its meaningful corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
As part of the contribution, four statues have been installed – two at Saradise, one at the MBKS office, and another at Hui Sing Park.
“These installations add charm and character to their surroundings while enhancing the visual appeal of Kuching South’s urban landscape,” the council said, adding that the statues also create attractive landmarks for residents and visitors.
Kuching South mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng commended Borneo Restu for its thoughtful contribution, hoping it would inspire more corporate partners to support city beautification, sustainability, and community well-being.
“Such CSR efforts not only improve the physical landscape of Kuching but also strengthen community pride and a sense of shared responsibility in caring for the city,” he said.
He highlighted the initiative as a positive example of private-public collaboration to create a more vibrant and welcoming environment.
“Through collaboration and shared commitment, we can continue to enhance Kuching as a clean, attractive, and distinctive city that residents are proud of and visitors will remember,” he added.
