KUCHING (Dec 6): The Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) has expressed deep appreciation to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for the Special Financial Assistance (BKK) equivalent to two months’ salary, announced under the 2026 State Budget.

State secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the initiative aligns with the Ninth Strategic Thrust, themed ‘Strengthening Government Capability and Public Service Delivery’, outlined in the Budget Speech during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Nov 24.

“The Premier of Sarawak has always been concerned and supportive in strengthening the capabilities and capacity of the SCS to ensure more effective, efficient and innovative service delivery to the people of Sarawak.

“We greatly appreciate the announcement of the BKK payment amounting to RM131 million for SCS employees,” he said in a statement.

Abu Bakar noted that the initiative recognises the hard work of state civil servants and encourages them to continue serving with full dedication and professionalism.

“This incentive comes with an equally great trust. We call on state civil servants to uphold dedication, maintain a high-performance work culture, and work as a team towards a more developed and prosperous Sarawak,” he added.

He expressed confidence that, through shared commitment and the spirit of ‘SCS One Team’, the civil service will continue to be a key driver in moving Sarawak forward as a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient region.

Abang Johari announced that state civil servants will receive BKK based on their November basic pay.

“The Gabungan Parti Sarawak government records its highest appreciation to all members of the SCS who remain committed to implementing government policies and initiatives, whether in urban or rural areas.

“Their hard work and sincerity are the backbone of our inclusive and sustainable development programmes,” he said in his ministerial winding-up speech at the DUN.
