SIBU (March 14): Ramadan is not only a time for fasting, but also an opportunity for the community to cultivate patience and strengthen compassion towards one another.
SUPP Bawang Assan branch chairman Councillor Kevin Lau said the holy month provides a meaningful platform for people to share their blessings while reinforcing bonds within the community.
“Besides that, what I always remind everyone during Ramadan is that this is the time for us to fill our hearts with patience.
“Not only can we share our blessings here, but more importantly we must continue to care for one another in our community,” he said when speaking at the Ramadan breaking-of-fast gathering organised by SUPP Bawang Assan branch in collaboration with the Sungai Parah Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) at Surau Husnul Khatimah, Kampung Selalo, on Friday evening.
Lau said initiatives such as the communal iftar gathering not only bring people together, but also help foster closer relationships among residents of different races and religions.
He added that unity within Sarawak’s multiracial society remains a source of pride and a key strength for the state.
At the same time, Lau expressed appreciation to all attendees and organisers for their continued efforts in strengthening community ties through such programmes.
