KOTA KINABALU (Dec 10): Shangri-La Rasa Ria has successfully concluded its Pink & Peace Health Awareness Month 2025.
This event was a signature wellbeing initiative by the resort dedicated to promoting holistic health awareness, early breast cancer detection, and community empowerment.
Delivered in partnership with the Tuaran Health District Office, Kinabalu Pink Ribbon, and MAKNA (National Cancer Council Malaysia), the month-long campaign united colleagues and the wider Tuaran community in a shared commitment to fostering healthier, more informed lifestyles.
Throughout November, the resort hosted a wide range of thoughtfully curated programmes, ranging
from health screenings and educational talks, to other wellness activities that reaffirms Shangri-La’s
continued dedication to caring for its people and the communities surrounding the resort.
The Pink & Peace campaign provided accessible and complimentary health services to encourage preventative care and early intervention for breast cancer and other illnesses.
This year, over 600 participants demonstrated a heightened sense of health awareness across the
community.
Among this high number of participants, Shangri-La Rasa Ria and its event partners have successfully provided basic health screenings, physical breast exams and mammograms to a total of 247 participants.
In addition to that, the event also provided dental check-ups, mental health screenings, pap smear tests, colon cancer screenings, and ultrasound screenings to 197 participants.
During the event, participants were also invited to take part in the Sunset Walk, during which they were indulged with the beauty of Dalit Bay during sunset. This walk that is meant to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle within the community, garnered 120 participations overall.
To supplement the health screenings, the Health Awareness Month 2025 campaign also conducted a
series of health talks, workshops, and survivor’s forum sessions that were meant to emphasise the
importance of early health screenings and holistic wellbeing.
The health talks and survivor’s forum featured three breast cancer survivors and a mental health survivor whom each shared compelling personal testimonies on the power of resilience in recovery, inspiring participants to prioritise their health and seek early support.
A specialist workshop, focusing on trauma management and psychological emergency response, was also held to help equip attendees with essential tools to promote emotional wellbeing within their families and communities.
“Our Pink & Peace campaign reflects Shangri-La’s heartfelt belief that caring for people lies at the centre of everything we do,” said Fiona Hagan, General Manager of Shangri-La Rasa Ria.
“This initiative not only supports preventative health but strengthens the bonds within our community. We are deeply grateful to our partners, medical teams, and participants who helped make this year’s programme meaningful and impactful.”
In addition to helping provide accessible healthcare screenings to members of the local community who are often located further from the city centre, the campaign also provided an excellent opportunity to build lasting partnerships with NGOs and local health authorities.
Shangri-La Rasa Ria extends its sincere appreciation to the Tuaran Health District Office, Kinabalu Pink Ribbon, MAKNA, all medical professionals, facilitators, colleagues, and community members.
Their unwavering dedication ensured that Pink & Peace Health Awareness Month 2025 delivered lasting value, meaningful engagement, and renewed commitment to collective wellbeing.
