KUCHING, May 20: Masjid Darul Al-Barakah in BDC here will see repairs and upgrades totalling RM100,000 thanks to the Sarawak government.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap witnesses the handover of the letter of award and site to Spring Rain Construction. The work is funded as part of his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation for 2023.

“The repairs and upgrading works for the project cover the main office, meeting room, ablution area, toilets and changing room.

“The works will be supervised by MBKS (Kuching South City Council) who is the implementing agency and the project is scheduled for completion by 19th August 2024,” he revealed in a statement.

Yap highlighted that the mosque’s management committee had earlier requested financial assistance for the general repairs and upgrading works.

“I am committed in using my RTP allocation systematically based on urgency and priority to ensure the facilities of all religious bodies (Muslim and non-Muslim) in my constituency are up to standard and satisfactory,” he explained.

During the handover, Yap requested MBKS to closely monitor and supervise the repair and upgrading works to ensure that they are completed on schedule and with quality finishing.

“This is to ensure the repairs and upgrading works can be delivered on time for the benefit of all those who attend prayers at the mosque,” he added.

Yap said that the inclusive policy implemented by the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has brought political stability and prosperity to Sarawak.

“Abang Johari’s aspiration (for Sarawak) to become a developed and high-income region is not to hollow confidence because Sarawak’s economic fundamentals are strong.

“Its policies are structured and realigned with new sustainable green initiatives and goals to meet the challenges of the future,” he said. — DayakDaily
