KANOWIT (Feb 20): Infrastructure projects worth RM4.5 million, including ferry services and the construction of new roads, are set to spur development and enhance the well-being of residents in the Ngemah area, said assemblyman Anyi Jana.

He said the ferry service has brought significant benefits to the local community, particularly by improving connectivity and supporting daily economic activities.

“The service has eased residents’ movement and improved access between areas, thereby supporting the sustainability of economic activities in Ngemah,” he said in a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report.

He said this when making Chinese New Year visits in his constituency on Wednesday.

Anyi noted that these initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring that basic facilities deliver direct and meaningful impact to the people.

He added that the construction of a seven-kilometre road at Simpang Nanga Jagau will be implemented in the near future under the Mid-Rajang Regional Development Agency.

The road project is expected to improve accessibility, facilitate residents’ daily activities, and support phased development within the constituency, he said.

On his Lunar New Year visits, Anyi emphasised the importance of community-based activities in fostering unity and harmony.

“Such programmes not only strengthen ties but also provide a platform to enhance cooperation between leaders and the people in a harmonious atmosphere,” he added.
