SIMANGGANG, March 20: The Simanggang Link Road is set to enhance regional connectivity, with the RM74 million Brayun-Basi-Lubok Tedong road now in the tender process.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the project, spearheaded by the Sarawak government, will begin with a 10-kilometre stretch from Brayun to Basi, followed by a 13-kilometre segment from Basi to Lubok Tedong.
Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, said that once completed, the Basi Road section will connect Simanggang town directly to the Pan Borneo Highway at Kampung Stuga, Engkilili, benefiting 10 longhouses and two primary schools in the surrounding area.
Harden made the remarks while receiving a visit from the Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Sri Aman delegation at the Simanggang Constituency Service Centre on Thursday (March 19).
He also highlighted that the Sri Aman Development Agency (SADA) has approved another 10-kilometre road project linking Entulang Bungkang to Taman Harmoni, forming part of the broader Simanggang Link Road initiative.
Once the road shortcut from the Pan Borneo Highway via Entulang Bungkang is completed, motorists will have easier and faster access to the town.
Earlier, the RTM Sri Aman delegation, led by Regina Ho, met with Harden to discuss proposals for two upcoming programmes: the Gawai Song Karaoke Competition and a Mandarin-language Storytelling session.
The exact dates and locations are yet to be finalised, though the Gawai Song Karaoke Competition is suggested to take place in early May. – DayakDaily Team
