Road upgrading works in Bawang Assan going on as planned, says SUPP man

SIBU (Sept 15): Four roads in the Engkilo areas in Bawang Assan namely Jalan Tai Sing, Jalan Chung Hung Toh, Jalan Chung Sing and Jalan Yong Kok will undergo road upgrading works soon.

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Community Development team and Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) handed over the road upgrading project contracts to four appointed contractors here yesterday.

According to SUPP Bawang Assan Community Development team chairman councillor Kevin Lau, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had approved the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects with a total allocation of RM300,000.

“SRDC will ensure that the progress of the projects is strictly monitored and I’m sure that the contractors can complete the respective projects with the highest efficiency,” he said.

Adding on, he said initial discussions and meetings had been conducted with the community leaders prior to the submission of the applications for road upgrading works to the relevant authorities.

“Our team’s ultimate goal is to help improve and solve the various problems existing in the Bawang Assan area as well as to maintain close cooperation with the residents to create a better Bawang Assan,” he said.
