MIRI (April 5): SJKC Chung Hua Krokop has benefitted from a series of facility upgrades under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the Pujut constituency between 2022 and 2025.
Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii said a total of RM550,000 had been channelled to the school in stages over the four years, supporting improvements aimed at enhancing both learning and working environments.
During a visit to the school recently, Yii said RM200,000 was allocated between 2022 and 2023.
Of this amount, RM100,000 was used to upgrade classroom and corridor floor tiles and repair a waiting shed, while another RM100,000 went towards upgrading roads, parking areas, the drainage and also the running track.
In 2024, a further RM100,000 was allocated to replace window panels and repair metal grilles in 70 classrooms.
“These issues have persisted for some time. If left unattended, they could lead to serious consequences. That is why we prioritised a full replacement and repair,” Yii said.
Last year, an additional RM250,000 was used to upgrade teachers’ offices and learning spaces, including replacing damaged and worn-out furniture and refurbishing the school library.
Yii said the project also involved reorganising the internal layout to improve spatial flow and usability, creating a more conducive and efficient environment for both teaching and learning.
He also expressed satisfaction with the timely completion of the projects, which would be handed over to the Public Works Department (JKR) as the monitoring agency.
Looking ahead, he said RM150,000 had been approved for a 2026 project to upgrade a modern-concept computer laboratory, with works expected to commence later this year.
“Education development is a long-term commitment. By continuously improving school facilities, we are investing in the future of our next generation,” said Yii.
