SARIKEI, March 3: Sarawakians and other Malaysians in certain Middle Eastern countries affected by ongoing conflicts have been urged to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to safety instructions issued by local authorities and the Malaysian Embassy.

“Currently, the embassy regularly issues advisories to ensure Malaysians are safe and that their presence is officially registered. This enables the embassy to track their locations and respond immediately in case of emergencies,” she said.

Her remarks came after officiating the 2026 Aidilfitri Sejambak Kasih ceremony, organised by the Sarikei Division of the Social Welfare Department (JKM) at the Sarawak Government Administration Building in Sarikei today.

She added that every effort is underway to relocate affected Malaysians to safer areas and to ensure their safe and orderly return to Malaysia.

“We pray that all Malaysians in conflict-affected regions remain protected and secure,” she said.

During the event, 420 welfare recipients received cash contributions and hampers in anticipation of the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations.

The programme highlights the government’s commitment to easing the financial burden of vulnerable groups while promoting compassion and shared responsibility within the community.

Fatimah expressed hope that the assistance would bring joy and hope to recipients throughout Ramadan and during the Syawal festivities.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh, Sarikei Division Resident Datu Michael Ronnie Langgong, and JKM Sarawak director Semawi Mohamad. — DayakDaily
