KOTA KINABALU (Jan 10): The Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) is set to hold its Third Council Swearing-In Ceremony, which has received strong support and recognition from prominent political and business leaders, including the Chamber’s Honorary Advisor Tan Sri Paul Lim, as well as its Investment Advisor.
To brief them on the preparation progress and future direction of the Chamber, SCCC President Datuk Frankie Liew recently led a delegation of council members to pay courtesy visits to the two advisors and to formally invite them to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
The delegation included Deputy President Brett Chua, Vice Presidents Chiew Heng Hock and Tan Siew Ling, Director of Public Relations Anthony Leong , as well as council members Chan Jun Git, Chin Hui Zhi, Cheong Siau Ling, Lucas Kwan and Cyndi Liu.
The Third Council Swearing-In Ceremony will be held on March 16 at the Hakka Hall, Tanjung Lipat, Kota Kinabalu.
During the courtesy visit to Lim, the SCCC leadership expressed their sincere appreciation for his many years of support and guidance to the Chamber.
Liew conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to Lim for his long-standing support and close cooperation with the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce, and highly praised his outstanding contributions toward promoting Sabah’s economic development and the progress of the Chinese community.
He said that Lim has consistently shown concern for and provided strong support to the Chamber, offering valuable advice and guidance that have greatly benefited its growth and development.
Liew also commended Lim for his commitment to giving back to society despite his business success, noting his long-term involvement in charitable activities and significant contributions to the people of Sabah.
Widely recognised as a respected leader and role model within the Chinese community, Lim continues to inspire and encourage the business sector, especially the younger generation. The Chamber regards it as a great honour to have him serve as its Honorary Advisor.
Subsequently, the delegation also visited Datuk Prof NK Foo at the Courtyard Hotel, Kota Kinabalu.
During the meeting, Liew announced that the new council would once again appoint him as the Chamber’s Investment Advisor.
Liew noted that Foo is a distinguished figure in the banking and financial sector with extensive experience in business management and a strong national reputation.
Since the establishment of the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce, he has provided invaluable professional insights and strategic advice in promoting investment and trade cooperation between Sabah and China, playing an important role in facilitating bilateral economic collaboration.
Liew reaffirmed that the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce will continue to uphold its founding mission by actively promoting investment and trade exchanges between China and Sabah.
He expressed hope that the Chamber will further strengthen cooperation with local business associations and leading figures in the business community, working together to advance regional development in the fields of economy, culture, trade, and education.
He added that the inauguration of the Third Council marks a new milestone in the Chamber’s development, and the Chamber will play a more proactive and pivotal role in uniting Chinese business communities, promoting local economic growth, and deepening exchanges between Sabah and China.
In preparation for the swearing-in ceremony, Liew had earlier led Chua and several Vice Presidents on a courtesy visit to the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, where they met with Consul General Zhu Xinglong, who has graciously agreed to serve as the Guest of Honour and Oath-Administering Official at the ceremony.
