KOTA KINABALU (Dec 9): Sabah DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) chief Chan Loong Wei on Tuesday lodged an official police report regarding a fake letter circulating on social media, reiterating that DAP Sabah chairman Phoong Jin Zhe has never written any letter to the Chief Minister.
Chan explained that a so-called “letter” has been spreading online, falsely implying that DAP Sabah chairman Phoong Jin Zhe had written to the Chief Minister to recommend party members for government appointments.
He stressed that such allegations are completely untrue.
DAP firmly reiterates that since the conclusion of the election, the party has never issued any letter to the Chief Minister nor made any proposal related to government positions.
He highlighted that the document appears to be photographed from a computer screen, dated 5 December, without any signature, official stamp, or party letterhead — clearly indicating that it is neither genuine nor official.
Chan further noted that DAP Sabah convened a meeting on the night of December 7, during which the party once again reaffirmed its decision not to join the Sabah government — a stance unanimously agreed upon by the Sabah leadership.
He said DAP Sabah will continue returning to the community, serving the people step by step through honest and consistent community work, and rebuilding public trust from the ground up.
Chan urged the public not to circulate unverified documents.
He added that Phoong had already taken political responsibility immediately after the election, and the facts clearly show that he has not been appointed to any position.
Phoong remains committed to moving forward and serving the people; therefore, the public should also look ahead and refrain from engaging in unnecessary political speculation or hostility.
Chan emphasised that DAP will steadfastly uphold its people-centric principles, will not be swayed by misinformation, and will continue moving forward with determination in service of the people.
