KENINGAU (Feb 8): The ‘Sabah First’ principle is regarded as ‘a timely and appropriate approach’ meant to ensure that the interests of the people of this state are always prioritised.
Bingkor Community Welfare Association chairman Yazid Mohd Hasnan Tawik @ Charles said the firm stance taken by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor reflected the state government’s continued commitment in safeguarding the rights and interests of the people, particularly in matters related to the management of state revenues and devel-opment direction.
“The Sabah First principle is crucial in ensuring that all state revenue and resources are managed transparently, with integrity and accountability, for the long-term benefit of the people.
“This approach not only prioritises the interests of Sabahans, but also guarantees that economic opportunities can be expanded fairly and equitably, regardless of race, religion or locality,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Yazid said the principle was also in line with the implementation of the ‘Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 Roadmap’, regarded as a new phase of development based on competitiveness, productivity and the strengthening of Sabah’s economic value.
“SMJ 2.0 focuses on more inclusive and sustainable development, while ensuring that the well-being of the people continues to be enhanced in tandem with the state’s progress,” he said.
