Shahelmey reiterated the three main aspirations for Tanjung Keramat: enhancing quality of life, boosting the local economy, and developing human capital.
PUTATAN (Nov 28): Tanjung Keramat incumbent Datuk Shahelmey Yahya expressed his support to his brother, Shah Alfie Yahya, for the 17th Sabah state election, saying Shah Alfie’s aspiration for the constituency is a continuity to his own when he contested during the 16th state election in 2020.
Speaking at the “Rumah Kita, Kita Jaga” programme in Kampung Meruntum, Shahelmey reiterated the three main aspirations for Tanjung Keramat: enhancing quality of life, boosting the local economy, and developing human capital.
“This includes developing the road infrastructures, solar lamps, and addressing water supply.
“To ensure the continuity of developments, the GRS (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah) government rule must continue,” he said.
Shahelmey urged voters to turn out in large numbers to support GRS and secure another term to govern Sabah.
“The GRS record is good and needs another term. We have long term plans for the water supply system, upgrade road infrastructure including rural roads,” he said.
At the same time, he said many electric supply plants are being constructed. Similarly, a large solar scheme is also being implemented, he added.
“In five years, we will have a better and more stable infrastructure that would encourage economic growth, open more job opportunities as well as care for the welfare and education of the community,” he said.
He also cautioned voters against supporting a previous party that had blamed Covid-19 for delays in implementing electricity, water, and Pan Borneo Highway projects.
“We forget about this party that is filled with day dreaming,” he said.
Shahelmey expressed confidence in GRS’s machinery in Tanjung Keramat, saying it has worked hard and is expected to secure the seat for the party.
Meanwhile, Shah Alfie said he will continue house-to-house visits until polling day to win over voters who remain undecided.
He expressed satisfaction with the support he has received during the two-week campaign and added that he plans to get a good night’s sleep before the vote.
“We must sleep and look fresh tomorrow,” he said.
