Sabah team all set for the 61st Malaysia Invitational Age Group Swimming Championship in Bukit Jalil.

KOTA KINABALU (Feb 5): Sabah Aquatic Sports Association (Sasa) will be sending its largest swimming team yet to the 61st Malaysia Invitational Age Group Swimming Championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur from Feb 5 to 8.

The squad of 102 swimmers are selected from across the state.

“The aim in sending such a large team is to allow exposure to the swimmers, especially from the younger groups.

“We hope this renewed effort would help groom future group of elite swimmers for the state.

“Additionally, we have also selected three junior coaches to be part of the team, in hope they would be able to learn from the senior coaches and gain needed experience from this outing,” said Sasa president Daniel Lee.

The team had just completed a two-day centralised training in preparation for the national age-group meet.

The swimmers will be led by team manager Emily Chew, assistant team manager Alvareena Audrey, head coach Elvin Chia and coaches Tie Mie Kiong, Goh Song Wee, Benjamin Lee, Gerard Tsen, Alvin Vung and Yapp Kae Wen.

Daniel thanked Sabah Sports Council (MSN Sabah) for the support and Sabah Sports Board (SSB) for assisting in the centralised training arrangements.
