KOTA KINABALU (Jan 28): Sabah Karate Association (SKA) has named a 19-member squad for the 1st National Senior, Junior, Cadet and U14 Kata Karate Championships to be held at the Bukit Jalil Karate Training Centre in Kuala Lumpur from Jan 30 to 31.
“We have not set any medal target but we will go all out and give our best like always,” said SKA secretary general Julian Chin on Tuesday.
SKA is counting on improving young talents as well as Bukit Jalil-based national trainees to vie for top honours in the tournament for individual and team kata events under senior, junior, cadet and under-14 categories.
The full squad comprised Bukit Jalil-based Mukhriz Mazlan, Alvince Zurizal, Mohd Haznil Henry (male), Lovelly Anne Robberth, Niathalia Sherawinnie AK Yampil, Naccy Nelly Evvaferra Rojin and Ivy Olivera Donny (female).
The rest competing in the male category are Habib Luhti Habib Taha, Danish Rayyan Rajis, Adlin Vince Viceroy, Ryyen Ryyen Gerrard Rojin and Al Zovainz Zurizal.
The state female representatives are Audrey Adreana Baking, Aunie Qaisara Mohd Nazri, Nur Ain Humairah Abdul Rahman, Zoe Moniesha Marius, Sierra Dyanne Lorimer, Nur Rasyiqah Fariah Razmi and Siti Nur Zawiyah Zainal Abidin.
They will be accompanied by team manager Grace Tiwon as well as coaches Farlin Frederick and Clevelence Carlos.
