Julita says her ministry is taking the recent rise in heat-related cases nationwide very seriously.
KOTA KINABALU (March 26): The Sabah government is stepping up monitoring and preparedness measures as the region continues to experience a hot spell, focusing on the safety of outdoor workers, rural communities and other at-risk residents.
State Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Majungki said that, as highlighted by the Ministry of Health, her ministry is taking the recent rise in heat-related cases nationwide very seriously.
“In Sabah, many people work outdoors, including fishermen, farmers, and plantation workers, so the risk of heat exposure is higher and requires special attention,” she said in a statement.
Julita also urged schools, childcare centres and caregivers to take extra precautions to protect children, while remaining vigilant for other high-risk groups such as the elderly, pregnant women and those with chronic illnesses.
“The state government is closely monitoring weather conditions and coordinating with local authorities to provide timely warnings and interventions.
“Health facilities at the district level are continuously monitored to ensure readiness.
“We remain committed to safeguarding the health and safety of the public throughout this hot spell,” she said.
