Sabah welcomes new chief conservator of forests

SANDAKAN (Feb 24): The Sabah Forestry Department recently welcomed its new chief conservator of forests Zulkifli Suara, who replaced Datuk Frederick Kugan.

The handing-over of duties took place at its headquarters and was attended by over 200 department officers.

In his parting remarks, Frederick recorded his appreciation to all staff for their unwavering support, cooperation and commitment throughout his six years of service as the chief conservator of forests.

“The department’s success and achievements are the results of the collective efforts from the staff across all levels.

“From the top management to the field personnel—all of you form the backbone of the state’s forest resources management,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, Zulkifli expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the trust placed in him to lead the section.

He called for continued commitment to advance the sustainable forest management agenda, and to further strengthen the governance in managing forest resources.

He also conveyed appreciation to Frederick for his 39 years of service with Sabah Forestry, acknowledging his contributions and dedication in elevating the state’s forestry sector to a more distinguished level, nationally and internationally.
